Nick Willis
Nick grew up in New Zealand, and attended the University of Michigan on a full athletic scholarship. While at the University of Michigan, he was a seven-time All-American and set multiple school records. Nick is a two-time Olympic medalist in the 1500m, representing New Zealand. He won the silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and bronze at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Nick lives in Ann Arbor with his family, where he's an assistant coach at the University of Michigan. He and his wife Sierra founded The Miler Method, a six-week online boot camp to help you run a faster mile!

Carrie interviews Kelly Herron, who was recently attacked in a women's restroom while out on her run in Seattle. Kelly recounts her journey and offers advice for runners to stay safe.

Kelly Herron
Kelly lives in Seattle, WA and found her passion for running in November 2015, about five months after she achieved sobriety from alcohol addiction. Kelly wants to promote the value of self-defense, especially to women and runners so that we can live life without fear of doing things that make us happy, like running! She works as an advisor at RealSelf.com. This summer Kelly will be running her first marathon, at the Seattle Rock N' Roll Marathon.

Erin Block

Erin attended Iowa State University. She is an avid runner and snowshoer. Career highlights include placing 8th at the 2007 Houston Marathon and 4th at the 2009 Des Moines Marathon. Erin competed in the 2008 Olympic Marathon Trials. She was third at the 2010 and 2011 US Women’s Snowshoe Championships. Erin lives and trains in St. Paul, Minnesota and loves to represent Oiselle!

Kate Grace
Kate attended Yale University, where she was an All American and shattered multiple school records. She turned pro after graduation, sponsored by Oiselle and training with the New Jersey-New York Track Club. Kate competed in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 800m and 1500m. In 2013, she won the USA 1 Mile Road Championships, her first national title.  She won the 800m final at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trails and competed in the Olympic Games in Rio. In 2017, she ran the 4th fastest American indoor mile (4:22:93). Kate currently trains with the NorCal Distance project and is sponsored by Nike.

Carrie interviews four-time Olympian Shalane Flanagan! Shalane discusses her withdrawal from the 2017 Boston Marathon, life as a foster mom to twin girls and the upcoming sequel to her popular cookbook, Run Fast, Eat Slow.

Shalane Flanagan
Shalane is an Olympic medalist, four-time Olympian, American record holder, and world-class marathoner. She finished second at the 2010 NYC marathon and ran the fastest time ever by an American woman at the 2014 Boston Marathon, completing the race in 2:22.02. At the 2014 Berlin Marathon, Shalane ran a personal best of 2:21.14, the second-fastest time ever by an American woman.

Nike has sponsored Shalane since she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004. She has been running at an elite level for 16 years and typically runs 100-plus miles a week. She attributes her ability to sustain this level of training to her nutrient-dense diet. Focusing on fueling for health and performance is an integral part of her training regimen.

Shalane has been featured on the cover of Runner’s World, Women's Running, Running Times, Competitor Magazine, and Track and Field News. She has appeared on 60 Minutes, ESPN Outside the Lines, and Oprah. Her inspiring story has also been heralded in Women's Health, Shape, USA Today, the Boston Globe, and the New York Times. Shalane speaks passionately about the importance of healthy eating at running events across the country. Shalane lives and trains in Portland, Oregon.
